Hi, i am René

I love nature, the outdoors, and everything that comes with getting out and experiencing the world. Me and the Outdoors started as a way to share my trips, experiences, and lessons learned with others who also love being outdoors.

Briefly about my approach:

  • DIY geek: I build everything from custom knives in exotic materials to alcohol burners from soda cans. If I can do it myself, I will.

  • Underwater Hunter: When I’m not in the woods, you’ll find me below the surface with my harpoon.

  • Keep it simple: Life doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive to be good.

For me, the ultimate luxury is not a flat-screen TV, but the flames of a campfire. It’s where I find peace, and it’s the earthy joy of the outdoors that I share here at Me and the Outdoors.

You can learn a lot more by following me on the pages below, and it also gives me the opportunity to create more content…

Why i started Me and the Outdoors...

I wanted to create a place where I could document my adventures and inspire others to take on their own adventures. Here, I don’t just share stories – I test gear, try out new cooking tips on the go, and find recipes that work in the wild.

The trips, gear and recipes...

About me:

I’m raised with scouting and tent canvas, and for me, nature is not a destination – it’s my foundation.

After 15 years of living in an allotment garden without electricity or water, I learned the value of the simple life. I was the first on the trail with homemade solar power, and I quickly learned that the best gear isn’t necessarily the most expensive—it’s the stuff you can build or repair yourself.
